140-bed hospital located adjacent to larger Hospital in Memphis. It has a 24-hour maternity ambulance entrance, 23 labor and delivery suites and 48 mother/baby rooms with a well-baby nursery. With more than 800 physicians and 330 clinical professionals on staff, this hospital is well equipped to provide quality health care to women and children across the Mid-South.
Hospital provides a variety of surgery services for children, including preadmission surgery evaluation through P.D.?s NEST program. To make children and their families as comfortable as possible, hospital has presurgery and postsurgery pediatric rooms.
Services:Pediatric surgery services currently include: Ear, nose and throat, Ophthalmology, Oral and dental, Orthopedics, Plastic surgery and Urology.
P.D.?s NEST Program
The Pediatric Developmental Needs Evaluation and Surgery Teaching (P.D. NEST) program helps reduce children?s fears of surgery and tests, making the hospital experience a more positive one. Children are prepared for surgical and diagnostic procedures through medical play and education with the help of certified child life specialists and staff nurses. The staff provides whatever patients need to have a positive and comfortable hospital experience • pre-procedure education, medical play, play therapy, simple distractions or patient and family support. Plus, parents have the opportunity to finalize any paperwork and take care of any pre-surgery evaluations.
